An apple a day...
An apple a day keeps the doctor away...
... does it still count when it also comes with a whole block of cream cheese, half a bag of toffee bits and an overflowing cup of carmel sauce?!
Allow the cream cheese to soften up a bit and then spread it across the bottom of a wide and shallow bowl. (If I had a wider and shallower bowl I would have used it. Maybe a deep dish pie plate would work nicely here too?) Either way... let's move on to the next step...
Pour about a cup of carmel sauce/dip on top and smooth it out with the back of a spoon...
Stop drooling... and start your grocery list...
... because the next item you're going to need to buy is a bag of toffee bits. You can find these in the baking section by the chocolate chips. It appears to simply be broken up Heath bars. oh yum...
Scatter about half of the bag on top, or at least enough to completely cover the carmel in a thin layer.
Then place the dish back in the refrigerator and let it cool/set.
Once you are ready to serve this to your loved ones, thinly slice 2-4 granny smith apples and make 2 layers along the side of the dish.
A big THANK YOU to 2 friends for sharing this... one shared it with her sister (what a great friend) and then the sister shared it with me. Who knows where this originally started... but who really cares. Right?!
Take it to your next open house, holiday party, etc... your friends will hug you for it!
enjoy your time in the kitchen...
